The Archer Center for Student Leadership Development provides leadership education — both in and outside of the classroom — for the benefit of Rensselaer students, faculty, staff, administrators and local communities.

The Center plays an important role in helping Rensselaer students make the critical transition from the classroom to the next phases of their lives. It enhances student key leadership skills through a variety of cutting-edge, interactive learning experiences and programs that include:

  • Adventure-based initiatives
  • Corporate training techniques
  • Team development
  • Visioning
  • Effective communication
  • Ethical decision making
  • Diversity and working in a global workforce
  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Workshops, Classes and Events

The Archer Center offers custom-designed workshops for student organizations and manages the Professional Leadership Program. It facilitates courses and works with faculty across the campus to develop interactive formats for classes and laboratories, as well as coordinating many other special events.

Collaboration

The Archer Center teaches a required course sequence in the Lally School of Management & Technology and a required Professional Development course sequence in the School of Engineering. Corporate representatives work with the Center by funding some of its programs and speaking in leadership classes, at workshops, conferences, and at the Center’s recognition banquet.

Transition

The Archer Center for Student Leadership Development, along with its colleagues and corporate partners, is dedicated to promoting practices that foster team work and integrity in the professional and personal lives of tomorrow’s leaders.
