Pollution Research Group

The Pollution Research Group (PRG) is a group in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Natal, Durban. We are dedicated to the application of chemical engineering principles in the solution of environmental problems. The mainstay of our research has been directed at water and wastewater management. Special emphasis has been given to industrial effluents, clean technologies, waste minimisation and closed loop recycling. This has lead to expertise in separation technologies and especially the application of membrane techniques.

Membrane processes, textile effluent treatment and fluid-behaviour modelling form the core research activities of the PRG. We are involved in technology transfer to distribute the results of this research. You can see sections of our Publication Lists to gauge to scope of the research we undertake.

Take a look at one of our current projects and feel free to pull back and use any of the models or programs. Please bear in mind that we typically work on Windows or DOS platforms and so our programs are not transportable.

You can also take a look at one of our collaborative projects, like ECOSERV or the Umgeni Water Process Evaluation Facility.

Now you can meet some of the researchers. The others will be putting pages up shortly. If you want to e-mail one of us, try @che.und.ac.za
