The Mueller Center is a vibrant, visually active, bold and innovative three story fitness and wellness facility, located in the heart of campus.
Its design provides easy transition between programs and activities, serves as a social focal point for the campus community, and is inviting and comfortable for Rensselaer’s diverse population of users.
Eight treadmills, 11 elliptical cross-training machines as well as rowers, stationary bikes, steppers, and treadmills are available.
This elaborate, glass-enclosed center features:
- Three 40-foot-by-40-foot multipurpose rooms, which are filled to capacity with aerobics, kick boxing, yoga, and other classes.
- A 5,500-square-foot weight-training room with separate areas for athletic teams and individual lifters.
- Nine 32-inch hanging TV monitors, and stereo sound systems in each room.
- A wellness classroom to hold classes in health-related subjects, such as smoking cessation and nutrition.
- An 8 foot by 6 foot state-of-the-art video wall in the main lounge.
- Olympic free weights, arranged in two sections to offer varsity athletes and recreational users ample space and a challenging workout.
The Mueller Center supports student development through a variety of creative programs, while sustaining Rensselaer's rich, competitive athletic tradition.
The goals of the Mueller Center’s programs are to promote a commitment to a high standard regarding health and fitness; to support social and recreational interactions; and to offer students the opportunity to develop athletic skills in an equitable manner.
The new East Campus Athletic Village is being planned to include an expanded Houston Field House, a multi-purpose stadium with seating for 7,500, a basketball arena with seating for 2,000, a new 50-meter pool, an indoor track and field area, and new tennis courts.
